Home Assistant consultant for clear, practical decisions

Home Assistant can become complex quickly when several integrations, devices and automations depend on each other. I review the situation, compare realistic options and give you a clear written recommendation before you spend time or money on changes.

→ Describe your situation

When does a consultation make sense?

  • Before buying devices or integrations, if you want to be sure they will fit your system.
  • While planning an expansion, to set a sensible order of work and avoid rework later.
  • If you are wondering how to use Home Assistant in a home, office, workshop or another property.
  • When automations or scripts start affecting each other and their logic becomes hard to follow.
  • If the system behaves unstably or unpredictably and the cause is unclear.
  • When connecting energy management, heating, EV charging and other systems that begin to depend on each other.
  • To work out what you can do yourself and what requires direct work in Home Assistant.

What can I help you assess?

  • your Home Assistant setup and system structure
  • automations, scripts and control logic
  • integrations, entities and devices
  • Zigbee and device communication
  • heating, climate and HVAC
  • solar, home batteries, EV charging and energy management
  • dashboards and everyday use of the system
  • an expansion plan or how to reorganise an existing system

In a complex system, one change can affect another. EV charging can change how a home battery behaves. Heating or HVAC control may depend on several setpoints, modes and conditions. An automation problem may actually start in an integration or a device. I look at these dependencies, not only at the visible symptom.

What do you get from the consultation?

  • an assessment of the situation and a recommended direction
  • the reasoning behind it and sensible alternatives
  • an explanation of the key dependencies and trade-offs
  • the order of the next steps
  • what to check before making changes, and whether direct work in Home Assistant is needed

Why I work in writing

Home Assistant problems are often detailed. Entity names, device models, screenshots, configuration excerpts and dependencies between automations are easier to verify when everything is documented.

Written communication reduces the risk of misunderstandings, gives me time to analyse the details accurately and gives you a record of the recommendations that you can return to later.

How does a written consultation work?

1. You describe the system or problem

Send the goal, symptoms and the information you already have. You can include screenshots, photos, device models or configuration excerpts.

2. I review the details

I analyse the information and, if something important is missing, I ask for the specific details needed to continue.

3. You receive a clear recommendation

I send the conclusions and recommended next steps by email, so you have a written reference for the work that follows.

When written advice is not enough

Some cases can be resolved from the information you send. Others require direct work in Home Assistant.

If we agree that access is needed, you create a separate temporary service account and we agree on a secure access method. I make only the changes included in the agreed scope. When the work is complete, you remove the service access.

The consultation can therefore end with a written recommendation or continue into hands-on work when that is the more appropriate solution.
